The Arcade

"Where the game is never over." The Arcade in Old Town is a lovely brick building with a neon sign in almost every window. I think of all my shots from Saturday's little photo-walk, this straight-on image of The Arcade is my favorite. Despite the simple composition, there's something I really love about the lighting. The late-evening blue sky with just a hint of sunset still lingering, the neon lights of The Arcade, and the way they gently flood across the brick road in front of the building.

Friends at Night

On the last night of Riverfest, while trying to navigate our way through the mess of traffic to escape downtown Wichita we happened to pass Friends University. Without a soul around it was a pretty peaceful scene so I just had to get a nice long exposure of the building and its clocktower, trying my best to capture the peaceful late-night mood. I would have liked to stay longer and try a few other angles, but a security guard came by and decided to stand over my shoulder until I was done (apparently someone had been caught stealing flowers recently??), so the peaceful aura was a little ruined for me after that. I do like how this shot turned out though.

Ever since I first saw someone do a flipped-reflection photo I've fallen in love with the style. I'm still working on getting a truly great inverted reflection, but this shot of one of the buildings on Auburn's campus, captured in a small reflecting pool, is so far my favorite.
